Dental Care for Patients with Special Needs
Tracking # 20-1384975
Course overview
Patients with special healthcare needs have conditions that can affect oral hygiene, access to care, communication, treatment tolerance, preventive care, and the safe delivery of dental treatment. These needs are best understood by how they affect care planning rather than by diagnosis alone. The effect of a condition varies by person and may change over time. Diagnosis gives the dental team useful context, but current function, support at home, medical risk, and treatment tolerance help determine what care adjustments are needed
