This course, “Trauma Informed Care: Understanding Trauma,” is designed for mental health professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of trauma and its effects on the brain, body, and behavior. Participants will learn evidence-based strategies to support individuals who have experienced trauma and gain practical tools for implementing trauma-informed care in various settings.
The course content is unbiased, evidence-based, and free from commercial influence. It has been developed by the clinical training team at Lifetime Counseling Center comprised of Licensed Mental Health Counselors, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with extensive expertise in trauma-informed practices and mental health care.
Participants will engage in interactive lessons, self-reflections and utilization guidelines to deepen their learning and demonstrate understanding. This course meets the continuing education requirements set by the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. Participant data will remain confidential, outside of reporting requirements, and the course is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
