Legalization of marijuana in Ohio and debate about how to implement the laws has brought swift and often confusing changes to the landscape of cannbais use. Increasing social acceptance and advocacy for marijuana use is often in conflict with information about the downsides and danger of use. This training seeks to inform participants about the current status of recreational and medical marijuana, interpret the current laws, and discuss debates about possible changes to the control of the substance. Information will be provided about the effects of marijuana on the user both short and long term, how addiction manifests through use of marijuana - comparing and contrasting to other drugs of abuse. It includes discussion of trends in use and the impacts on both youth and older adults. Emerging research about cannabis is discussed including difficulties and barriers in conducting research. Additional issues about cannabis derivatives are discussed including CBD products, Edibles, and Delta-8 products.
