Course overview

Utilizing a focus on the SIMPLE STEPS model of suicide assessment, adapted from McGlothlin, J. M., & American Counseling Association. (2008). Developing clinical skills in suicide assessment, prevention, and treatment from the American Counseling Association and supported by culturally informed assessment tools, this workshop will help mental health clinicians and practitioners build solid, functional skills in the assessment and conceptualization of suicidality and related risk factors. For licensed professional counselors and for licensed professional clinical counselors, this training aligns with continuing education towards appraisal of individuals; evaluation of mental and emotional status, and methods of intervention and prevention of mental and emotional disorders; treatment of mental and emotional disorders. For licensed social workers, social work methods and social work with special populations.
