Prescribing Controlled Substances for Florida APRNs

Course overview

This course meets the Florida Board of Nursings requirement for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) on prescribing controlled substances. The Florida Board of Nursing requires a three-contact-hour educational course on controlled substance prescribing for APRNs to be completed before each license renewal. This educational activity will address issues related to the regulation, medical management, misuse, use disorder, and diversion of controlled substances prescribed for pain, anxiety disorders, insomnia, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. In addition, other commonly prescribed controlled substances will be discussed, including weight-loss medications and testosterone replacement.
