Telemental Health Supervision and Supervisee Skill Development

Course overview

Advances in technology have made mental health care services more accessible to a greater number of individuals over the past few years. As a result, participation in telemental health care has grown exponentially. Accompanying this growth is the increase in telesupervision. An important component to providing effective supervision through the use of digital technologies is training in the methods to do so. In this training participants will be guided through the history of the use of technology in supervision and explore strategies and techniques to support the professional development of supervisees, manage crisis and difficult situations with clients, and practice ethically. Learning Objectives: Participants will become familiar with the HIPAA guidelines as they relate to telehealth practice and protecting ePHI. Participants will gain an understanding of technologies used in online counseling and supervision and suitability recommendations for practice. Participants will explore and discuss strategies for developing clinical and interpersonal skills of supervisees.
