Connecticut Mental Health Screening and Suicide Prevention for Nurses

Course overview

This course prepares nurses and other healthcare professionals to recognize indicators of PTSD, depression, grief-related concerns, and suicide risk; use respectful screening and communication approaches; and respond appropriately to concerning findings. The course emphasizes safety, escalation, referral, objective documentation, professional role boundaries, and considerations affecting veterans and military-connected families. Although developed to meet Connecticut's mental health screening and suicide prevention training guidelines for nurses, this course reviews principles that are nationally applicable across nursing education and practice levels.
