*Explain the philosophical and developmental foundations that shape ethical communication in healthcare practice. *Apply the provider/client continuum to identify communication styles and practice truthful, boundary-aware ethical communication. *Use the Ten Basics of Ethical Communication to improve patient understanding, cultural respect, and therapeutic rapport. *Demonstrate effective provider-patient interaction skills from initial contact through educating, negotiating, and managing difficult encounters. *Apply verbal techniques open and closed questions, facilitation, empathy, and partnership building to support shared decision-making. *Use active listening principles and recognize personal barriers to listening in order to improve patient-centered communication. *Recognize the components and cultural influences of nonverbal communication and apply them to enhance provider-patient interactions. *Analyze the link between moral identity and ethical action and use this understanding to design an Ethical Communication Protocol.
