Describe the structural anatomy and rotational biomechanics of the elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand relevant to soft tissue injury. Identify the joints, ligaments, and retinacula of the wrist and hand and their roles in stability and movement. Describe the ligaments of the elbow and their contributions to varus and valgus stability through flexion and extension. Differentiate the flexor and extensor muscle groups of the forearm and the intrinsic muscles of the hand by location and function. Demonstrate passive and active range of motion examination of the hand, thumb, and elbow including resisted muscle testing. Recognize common fractures, ulnar variance, impaction syndrome, and Keinbock's disease affecting the wrist and elbow. Evaluate ligamentous injuries of the elbow and carpal instabilities using stress tests such as the Watson Scaphoid Shift Test. Identify muscle and tendon pathologies of the elbow and wrist including brachialis strain, intersection syndrome, and De Quervain's paratenonitis. Explain how fascial adhesions and bursitis of the elbow contribute to wrist tendon dysfunction such as De Quervain's paratenonitis. Analyze the entrapment sites of the radial nerve and its branches from the shoulder through the radial tunnel. Apply manual and modality treatment protocols for posterior elbow impingement, ulnar variance, and impaction syndrome of the wrist. Demonstrate joint mobilization techniques for the distal radioulnar, radiocarpal, and ulnomeniscotriquetral joints. Apply acute and chronic phase treatment protocols for ulnar collateral ligament sprains of the thumb and bicipital tendinosis. Apply treatment protocols including stretching, friction massage, and modalities for medial epicondylosis and brachialis strain. Evaluate fascial restrictions of the brachioradialis and treatment approaches for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Apply treatment protocols for entrapment of the radial, posterior interosseous, ulnar, median, and musculocutaneous nerves of the elbow.
