A Pharmacy Team Guide to Managing GERD
Tracking # 20-1387433
Course overview
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, remains a pervasive problem, affecting up to 30% of the population. Pharmacists are readily accessible healthcare providers who can assist patients in selecting optimal short-term GERD treatments and should therefore have a thorough understanding of available over-the-counter treatment options and be able to select appropriate agents for each patient. Pharmacists should also be able to recognize GERD alarm symptoms and refer patients to their healthcare provider when appropriate. This continuing education course will provide a thorough review of the diagnosis and management of GERD, with a focus on both nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic strategies. Patient counseling points and tips for pharmacy technicians will also be discussed.
