Course overview

This training discusses the basics of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). The session discusses the history of DBT, when and how to use DBT and the four modules of DBT. Participants will learn about emotional literacy, regulation, distress tolerance, crisis survival skills and symptom management strategies. The training also discusses how 988 call specialists can apply DBT principles to their work on the phone lines. After completing this training, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the history of DBT. 2. Define dialectics. 3. Identify when to use DBT. 4. Discuss the four modules of DBT. 5. Discuss emotional literacy and regulation. 6. Describe distress tolerance and crisis survival skills. 7. Identify symptom management strategies.
