Urethral obstruction is a common and potentially life threatening emergency in small animal practice and managing these patients can be challenging. This session takes a practical evidence based approach from stabilization to ongoing care. Well cover underlying causes systemic consequences and clinical decision making including cardiovascular assessment management of hyperkalemia and acid base disturbances fluid therapy and analgesia. Procedural techniques such as decompressive cystocentesis urinary catheterization troubleshooting and short term catheter care will be reviewed along with current medication strategies. Youll leave with a clear practical framework to confidently manage urethral obstruction in real world practice.
