Heartland Veterinary Partners - Oral Surgery & Radiology Wet Lab

Course overview

This intensive one-day lecture and wet lab course is designed to provide veterinary professionals with hands-on training in canine and feline oral surgery techniques. Participants will develop practical skills in administering regional nerve blocks, performing surgical tooth extractions, creating and managing mucogingival flaps, and utilizing oral surgical instrumentation. Through guided instruction and cadaver-based laboratories, attendees will gain experience using high-speed handpieces and burs for alveolar bone removal, sectioning multirooted teeth, elevating and extracting roots, managing common surgical complications, and achieving tension-free closure of extraction sites. The course emphasizes surgical decision-making, technical proficiency, and complication management to improve patient outcomes in veterinary dental practice.
