Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a common and potentially life-threatening condition encountered in veterinary patients. Early recognition and appropriate management are essential to improving patient outcomes. This lecture will review the pathophysiology and clinical progression of AKI, including the phases of injury and recovery. Participants will learn about common causes of AKI, including nephrotoxic exposures, ischemic injury, infectious diseases, urinary obstruction, and neoplastic processes. The lecture will also discuss evidence-based approaches to fluid therapy, management strategies for oligoanuric patients, and nutritional considerations to support renal recovery and patient care.
