Course overview

Caring for a person living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, or ADRD, can be both meaningful and complex. As the condition progresses, caregivers and staff may need to support changes in daily functioning as well as emotional and behavioral expressions that can occur during care. This course explores supportive strategies to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs). It also examines possible meanings behind behavioral expressions and approaches for responding with understanding, compassion, and respect. The goal of this course is to help staff working in home health settings provide supportive, person-centered care to individuals living with ADRD during activities of daily living, or ADLs, within a structured, team-based care environment.
