Immunocastration is increasingly recognized as an effective alternative to surgical castration in pig production, offering significant animal welfare advantages while maintaining productive performance. This webinar will provide an overview of the scientific basis of immunocastration, its welfare and production benefits, and current challenges associated with implementation. Drawing on recent research conducted in Brazil and Colombia, countries with some of the highest adoption rates worldwide, the presentation will explore the motivations, perceived benefits, and barriers influencing on-farm implementation. Practical insights from producers and thought leaders in the production chain will be discussed, highlighting key factors that can facilitate wider adoption of immunocastration in commercial swine production systems.
