Course overview

This three-day, 18-hour intensive gives licensed mental health professionals a complete clinical foundation in the assessment & treatment of substance use disorders. Most master's programs teach addiction as a side chapter, leaving clinicians to recognize SUD in their caseload but not treat it. This training closes that gap. Across three live days with Dr. Frances Patterson, PhD, participants work through addiction neurobiology, evidence-based screening tools, differential diagnosis when SUD overlaps with depression, anxiety & PTSD, & the full ASAM treatment continuum including MAT & behavioral therapies. Day Three addresses trauma symptoms misread as SUD, harm reduction, & considerations for pregnant, LGBTQ+ & justice-involved clients. Participants receive 18 board-approved CEs & a Certificate of Completion that fulfills the education requirement for the CAIMHP credential through Evergreen Certifications application fee waived.
