Generational trauma also known as intergenerational or transgenerational trauma refers to the transmission of trauma effects across generations through relational patterns, attachment disruptions, family narratives, nervous system regulation, and cultural or historical experiences. Many clients present with anxiety, shame, emotional dysregulation, relational instability, or identity disturbances rooted in inherited trauma patterns rather than single-event exposure.
