No Pain is More Gain: Multimodal Analgesia in Dogs and Cats
Tracking # 20-1390198
Course overview
Effective pain management is essential to improving patient outcomes, enhancing recovery, and elevating the standard of care in veterinary practice. This course explores the principles of multimodal analgesia and how to apply them throughout the peri-anesthetic period in both canine and feline patients. Participants will review pain pathways and nociception, learn how to match analgesic drugs and techniques to specific pain mechanisms, and gain confidence incorporating opioids, NSAIDs, local anesthetics, and other analgesic options into patient-centered treatment plans. Through real-world case examples, veterinarians and veterinary technicians will discover practical strategies for developing tailored analgesic protocols, optimizing peri-operative care, minimizing anesthetic risks, and improving patient comfort from admission through recovery and discharge.
