Course overview

This is the Association for Veterinary Informatics' 32nd Annual Symposium! Named for professor, dean, and informatics pioneer Dr. Richard Talbot, DVM, PhD., the Talbot Veterinary Informatics Symposium began in 1995. Our mission is to guide and transform the veterinary profession in understanding, using and extending the practice of informatics and artificial intelligence. Veterinary clinical informatics is a rapidly evolving science that blends information technology, communications, social and behavioral science, and veterinary medicine to improve the quality and safety of patient care. Artificial intelligence is increasingly applied in veterinary medicine for diagnostic imaging interpretation, predictive risk modeling, clinical decision support tools and automation of medical record documentation. These help practitioners identify disease patterns earlier, personalize treatment plans and increase efficiency. This course covers how veterinary medical informatics and artificial intelligence are used in epidemiology, medical data management, veterinary healthcare information technology, and clinical decision support with an emphasis on MEDICINE and health care, NOT business and management.
