This program utilizes current ILCOR and ECC recommendations for managing adult cardiorespiratory emergencies. The program will follow the concepts and science of these agencies, and will focus and the specific policies, procedures, medications and equipment used by a specific region, or agency. For example, a program using automated CPR devices will be able to utilize them in the program following correct manual demonstrations in each case as they would perform in and actual scenario. Specific medication and airway policies for a facility/ agency will be acceptable. The course will consist of review of the science and local policies, EKG/ ECG review, and practice/ competency demonstration in BLS, airway management, management of perfusing patients, respiratory compromise and stroke- as well cardiac arrest cases, including unique presentations outside of a standard cardiac induced arrest. Participants will be provided the ILCOR guidelines for reference and an 85-page preparation packet to review and complete a pre-test form prior to the actual class.
