Course overview

Describe the kidney meridian pathway, paired organ, and clinical presentations of deficiency versus excess patterns. Identify the location, category, and TCM actions of major kidney meridian acupuncture points including K1, K3, K6, K7, and K10. Apply mother-child balancing and alarm/associated point testing to evaluate kidney meridian involvement in psoas and upper trapezius dysfunction. Analyze the relationship between an open ileocecal valve and involvement of small intestine, large intestine, and kidney meridians. Describe the pericardium meridian pathway, element, paired organ, and associated muscles. Identify the location and TCM actions of key pericardium points including CX3, CX6, CX7, CX8, and CX9. Demonstrate the standard pericardium meridian treatment protocol using the gracilis as an indicator muscle. Apply pericardium meridian testing to evaluate flexor withdrawal, IML sympathetic-parasympathetic reflexes, and pontomedullary reticular formation findings. Describe the primary systems of Mian Xiang face diagnosis including age regions, five elements, emotional zones, and organ reflections. Differentiate the nine face shapes described by Dr. Todd Frisch and their associated physical symptoms and personality traits. Analyze facial symmetry by comparing left and right sides to reveal private versus public personas. Recognize persistent facial lines and creases that indicate enduring organ patterns rather than transient expressions. Apply photo reflection techniques to reveal hidden facial characteristics and diagnostic clues in patients. Explain the diagnostic significance of ear lobe creases and the proper technique for tongue examination. Differentiate the five tongue body colors and their clinical significance regarding yin organs, blood, and nutritive chi. Analyze tongue coating characteristics and triple burner mapping to identify chi deficiency, heat, dampness, and yin deficiency patterns. Demonstrate the nociceptive blocking and set point techniques for treating acute and chronic pain using B and E points. Apply the Location-Quality-Memory technique with tonification points to address persistent pain from past injuries. Demonstrate the periaqueductal gray protocol using supine gait, GV17 therapy localization, and eye laterality for long-term inflammation. Apply the dorsal root ganglion and cholinergic anti-inflammatory reflex protocols to evaluate and treat inflammation and pain.
