Course overview

First responders face overwhelming challenges when managing terrorist incidents, which require complex coordination of multiple agencies, specialized equipment, and mass casualty protocols while preserving critical crime scene evidence. Many emergency personnel lack adequate training in the Incident Command System (ICS) and systematic response models needed to effectively control chaotic terrorist scenes involving hazardous materials and mass casualties. This interactive online course will teach you the essential components of ICS and the systematic steps for responding to terrorist incidents, including scene size-up, strategic goal setting, and tactical implementation. Additionally, you will learn the GEDAPER model for hazardous materials incidents, proper coordination and notification procedures, and how to balance life safety priorities with evidence preservation requirements at terrorist crime scenes.
