Pediatric Ingestions
Tracking # 20-1392695
Course overview
Children are at high risk for accidental poisoning, with many common household medications and substances capable of causing severe injury or death even in single doses. Pediatric ingestions represent high-acuity, low-occurrence emergency calls that require immediate recognition and proper intervention to prevent life-threatening complications. This interactive online course will teach you how to identify common toxidromes, assess pediatric poisoning cases systematically, and implement appropriate prehospital interventions for various toxic substances. Additionally, you will learn when and how to contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222, recognize dangerous foreign body ingestions like coin batteries, and identify emerging threats such as cannabis products and synthetic drugs that pose risks to children.
