Course overview

Workers are subject to serious health effects, chemical burns, respiratory damage, and potentially fatal injuries due to exposure to hazardous chemicals in the workplace, with approximately 30 million workers exposed to one or more chemical hazards annually. Many workplace chemical injuries and illnesses can be prevented through proper hazard communication, appropriate labeling, and adequate employee training on chemical safety. This interactive online course will teach you how to identify and classify chemical hazards using OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard and the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), including physical and health hazard categories. Additionally, you will learn container labeling requirements, safety data sheet (SDS) responsibilities, and how to assess, analyze, and minimize workplace chemical risks through the hierarchy of controls.
