Course overview
Behavioral health professionals are increasingly essential to disaster and emergency response, yet many lack formal training in the operational structures of emergency management systems. This course introduces clinicians to the fundamentals of emergency management and defines the critical role of behavioral health across the disaster lifecycle: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. The curriculum emphasizes professional role clarity, ethical practice, and interprofessional coordination within high-stakes environments. This course was designed for an interprofessional audience.
