Vibration therapy has emerged as an evidence-informed intervention for improving neuromuscular performance, enhancing recovery, reducing pain, and supporting rehabilitation across a variety of patient populations. Understanding the physiological mechanisms and appropriate clinical applications of vibration therapy enables healthcare professionals to integrate this modality safely and effectively into patient care. This home study course provides a comprehensive overview of vibration therapy, beginning with the fundamental principles of mechanical vibration and progressing through the physiological and neuromuscular mechanisms responsible for its therapeutic effects. Participants will examine the influence of vibration on muscle activation, proprioception, circulation, flexibility, strength, power, and bone health while exploring the variables that influence treatment outcomes, including frequency, amplitude, and duration. The course also reviews practical clinical applications of vibration therapy using both whole-body vibration platforms and handheld percussive devices. Evidence-based strategies for incorporating vibration therapy into rehabilitation programs, athletic performance enhancement, warm-up and recovery protocols, and pain management are presented alongside a review of the current scientific literature. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to critically evaluate the evidence supporting vibration therapy and integrate appropriate treatment protocols into orthopedic, sports medicine, and rehabilitation practice.
