Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern behavioral approach that targets psychological flexibility the ability to stay open, aware, and engaged in meaningful action even in the presence of difficult thoughts and emotions. This two-day training with Dr. DJ Moran introduces clinicians to the empirical foundations of ACT, emphasizing how human language can both amplify suffering and serve as a catalyst for purposeful behavioral change. Participants will learn how the six core flexibility processes acceptance, defusion, present-moment contact, perspective-taking, values, and committed action work together as a unified model for reducing rigidity and promoting vitality. Through experiential exercises, case demonstrations, and structured assessment tools such as the Inflexahex and the Mindful Action Plan (MAP), attendees will gain practical skills for applying ACT across diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and substance use concerns. The workshop highlights ACT as an evidence-based, process-focused psychotherapy grounded in functional contextualism and real-world behavior change.
