This article focuses on addressing the opioid overdose crisis in Oconee County, a rural area in northwest South Carolina. The research investigates demographic and attitudinal factors influencing community support for harm reduction and recovery services, including syringe services programs and safe consumption sites. Utilizing a 46-item survey distributed primarily through social media, the study assesses beliefs towards opioid use disorder (OUD) and related treatments. Results indicate low overall support, particularly among older and unemployed individuals, suggesting a need for enhanced community awareness and reduced stigma towards OUD.
