This 1 hour course is designed for agencies to train their employees and will help us learn about mobility and assistive devices. Care providers who assist those who are using wheelchairs or other mobility aids needs specific training in order to provide safe, effective help. This program teaches care providers about important safety concerns, proper use of equipment and the importance of body mechanics. Viewers learn by watching professional experts demonstrate a variety of transfers and other procedures. Upon completion of this training, the viewer will understand: safe methods and special precautions for helping those who use wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and canes; how to do stand pivot transfers in a variety of settings; using a gait belt; principles of body mechanics; how to maneuver a wheelchair on ramps and curbs.
