APHASIA TRAINING PROGRAM

Course overview

This 3 hour course is designed for agencies to train their employees and teaches home care professionals and primary caregivers how to communicate with someone who has aphasia. This program is designed for caregivers who are living or working with someone who has completed intensive post-stroke rehabilitation. Topics include: definition of stroke and aphasia; exercises such as barriers to communication and improving communications; the role of speech-language pathologist; effects of aphasia; the importance of family involvement.
