Course overview
There is an increased interest in utilization of EDTA for decalcification of bone and bone marrow specimens. This stems from a need to improve downstream testing results for molecular, DNA, and RNA assays. The issue with this is the time it takes to achieve proper decalcification. This session will discuss the following: 1. Why is EDTA considered optimal for molecular testing?; 2. How beneficial is using EDTA when performing DNA/RNA assays?; 3. What methods/instrumentation can be used to accelerate this process?
