Addressing Ethical Challenges: Substance Use Disorder Counselors
Tracking # 20-1394578
Course overview
Counselors involved in the treatment of substance use disorders (SUDs) must always be mindful of the ethical standards of the profession. Due to the complex nature of a client's needs, the organization providing the treatment, and the practitioner who meets with the client, ethical concerns can arise frequently. Yet, many substance use counselors are not provided regular ethics training. Therefore, clinicians must be routinely refreshed on the commitments they are responsible for upholding as an SUD professional. This course combines didactic material with interactive exercises to help you stay current with recent developments in SUD ethics by reviewing relevant ethical standards, discussing common issues and counselor missteps, and providing opportunities to test your knowledge.
