Course overview

This training explores the human drive toward seeking reward and regulation. The training will build on basic neurobiology to understand how substance misuse can be linked to a person's drive to regulate. Participants will explore how relational poverty increases the risk of individuals seeking maladaptive regulation and tools to buffer regulatory need. This training will include case examples, multimedia video and audience participation to enhance learning. After completing this training, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the association between regulation and relationships. 2. Describe how relational poverty increases maladaptive reward seeking. 3. Outline interventions that consider individual regulatory needs, relational supports, and neurobiologically respectful interactions.
