Course overview

This 1 hour course covers the importance of communicating with those who are hard of hearing. Hearing loss is the most common communication problem that we may experience as we get older. Approximately 17 million Americans over the age of 65 have significant hearing loss affecting self-perception, relationships, work, and play. The person with hearing loss is not the only one who suffers. Family members and friends often feel frustrated and angry because of their increased efforts to be heard and understood. Upon completion of this training, the participant will: learn about the causes of hearing loss; better understand the difficulties faced by people with hearing loss; have tools to communicate more effectively with the hearing impaired.
