In this 1 hour program, we examine why personal care is important and how to provide it safely and considerately. Appropriate for home health agencies, hospices, community service agencies and others that train professional and family caregivers. All of us develop our own routines for bathing, brushing teeth and caring for our bodies early in life. These habits give us a sense of wellbeing, security and comfort. Allowing someone else to provide care may be stressful. It is important to provide personal care in a way that honors an individual's preferences and dignity. Upon completion of this training, the participant will understand: procedures for providing personal hygiene; the importance of the principles of body mechanics and infection control; the need for privacy, honoring individual preferences and the importance of self-care.
