NDT Foundations: Understanding Interventions that Lead to Improved Functional Outcomes

Course overview

This will be a two-day introductory live seminar for OT/OTA, PT/PTA, and SLP. This interdisciplinary seminar is designed to help clinicians enhance their skills in the assessment and interventions toward improved function for patients with stroke or brain injury. Participants will be guided toward a thorough understanding of movement throughout the whole body that is either helpful or counterproductive and how that movement directly links to future participation in daily life skills such as bathing, dressing, eating, transferring and walking. Through lecture, lab, patient demonstration and/or video analysis, as well as group problem solving participants will gain practical assessment and intervention skills to help facilitate improved function in the patients they serve e.g., functional mobility, BADL/IADL, eating and swallowing, breath support/communication throughout the continuum.
