Forty years ago, most of the patients who needed Physical Therapy had suffered accidents, injuries, strokes or trauma (including young men returning from Vietnam). Most of these patients had a relatively normal underlying medical status. Today, Physical Therapist are asked to see a much wider spectrum of patients with far more complicated medical conditions.
