Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: List potential adverse pathophysiological effects of platelet transfusions, and describe processing modifications that can be used to reduce risks to the patient requiring platelet transfusions. Compare the bleeding and transfusion reaction risks associated with administering half-dose platelet transfusions with full-dose transfusions.
