Course overview

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: Discuss the rates of recurrence and distant metastasis for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma, as well as the challenges in therapeutic options for patients with inoperable and/or radioiodine-refractory carcinomas. Summarize the roles of PD-L1 and genetic mutations on the overall prognosis of patients with papillary carcinomas of the thyroid, including odds of recurrence and death. Outline potential treatment strategies for patients with both PD-L1 high expression and concurrent genetic mutations, and discuss additional future studies that could follow up and advance the findings presented in this paper.
