Course overview

This course provides an overview of schizophrenia, including its etiology, signs and symptoms, and treatment. Therapeutic interventions suggested in the course may help the nurse in caring for patients with schizophrenia. Course Objectives ¿Discuss the biopsychosocial theories of the causes of schizophrenia. ¿Describe the development of schizophrenia. ¿Describe the clinical presentation for patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. ¿Discuss various pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapeutic treatment modalities used in caring for patients with schizophrenia. ¿Identify relapse prevention strategies.
