Managing Inter-Cat Conflict in Multi-Cat Households (BHVR111)

Course overview

Inter-cat conflict is a common welfare problem that also affects physical health. It is present in most multi-cat homes and is associated with stress-related conditions such as feline idiopathic cystitis, over-grooming, and reduced immune function. Much of it is quiet, building for months as avoidance, resource blocking, and hypervigilance before overt fighting appears, and advising caregivers to let cats work it out usually makes matters worse. This three-week course teaches veterinary professionals to read normal feline behavior, rule out medical causes, diagnose conflict, and reintroduce cats gradually, one sense at a time, with the caregiver communication that makes any plan succeed.
