Course overview

Optimizing viewing conditions for reading is a core task in low vision optometry. Simple clinical tests reflecting decades of reading research allow rigorous determination of font size, equivalent power, magnification and other requirements for the range of reading tasks adult patients seek to perform. Attendees will interrogate various types of reading, weigh the relative merits of various reading assessment methods, explore and practice a particular clinical protocol (based on observation of reading speed versus font size), interpret reading assessment data, and analyze a complex case.
