Course overview
In this training we will review Radically-Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT) as an evidence-based approach to treating clients reporting multiple different diagnoses. We will define what RO-DBT is, explore its philosophy, and provide concrete examples of RO-DBT skills. I will link RO-DBT to an evolutionary view of emotion which posits that emotion facilitates social bonds, and explore how social connectedness is the foundation of mental health from an RO-DBT perspective. After attending this presentation you will be able to: explain to colleagues and clients what RO-DBT is and the transdiagnostic problems it can treat, identify clients on your caseload who may benefit from a referral to an RO-DBT program, improve your own case conceptualizations, and identify whether you are personally interested in learning more about RO-DBT or investing in further training.
