AP Low Vision Hallucinations and Illusions: Beyond Charles Bonnet Syndrome

Course overview

One of the major responsibilities of low vision providers is to help patients understand the causes of their visual symptoms. Occasionally, patients with low vision will report bizarre visual observations that are difficult to explain. This talk will discuss several unique symptoms that patients with low vision may experience including visual hallucinations, persistence of vision (palinopsia), color vision defects, and several types of visual field abnormalities.
