As more and more individuals are accessing outpatient mental health care, clinicians in these settings are continuously being asked to do more with less. It is imperative that outpatient clinicians understand what their scope of practice is and when a client's needs exceed this. This 3-hour training equips clinicians with the assessment skills and clinical judgement needed to recognize when a higher level care, including IOP, PHP, residential and/or inpatient hospitalization is clinically indicated. Clinicians will be also able to identify clinical indicators of a crisis across multiple diagnoses including mania, psychosis, suicidal and homicidal ideation, etc. The training will also address the practical and ethical dimension of crisis intervention, including in the moment stabilization, safety planning, communicating level of care recommendations to to clients and support systems, and when necessary, navigating involuntary hospitalization in a way that preserves client dignity and safety.
