Dr. David Wells, with dual degrees in chiropractic and acupuncture, shares his idea to posit that the organization of nerve channels utilized by acupuncture was laid down during embryological development, shortly after the appearance of the neural streak, but before the differentiation of the limbs. Thus, nerves on the hands developed in conjunction with nerves in the feet, nerves in the elbows developed in parallel with nerves on the knees and so forth. Dr. Wells' contention is that those primitive interconnections of the nervous system are what we acupuncturists stimulate when using distal points. Using this model, Dr. Wells has been able to successfully predict the location of effective distal treatment points. The purpose of this course is to disseminate that knowledge.
