Clinical Orthopedic Strategies: Back Pain

Course overview

Participants will learn differential diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the lower back and hip including: lumbalgia, sciatica, lumbar disc syndrome, lumbar stenosis, lumbar sprain, and trochanteric bursitis. Diagnostic methodologies include history, observation, palpation, orthopedic and neurological testing. Treatment methodologies covered will include acupuncture to local trigger points and to distal points selected based on anatomical similarity and channel theory. The use of acupressure and therapeutic exercise for rehabilitation of soft-tissue will also be covered. Time will also be spent developing charting and communication skills to ensure smooth interaction with insurer¿s and other medical-legal professionals.
