Learn about pain in people suffering from Alzheimer's and how to discover what?s wrong even if the person can?t directly tell you in this 1 hour course. Understand non-verbal communication related to pain and the best ways to help a resident who is in pain. This course includes a discussion of specific dementia-related pain and what the care goals should be for staff in these situations. After completing this lesson, the student will be able to: Interpret the non-verbal ways people with memory loss express pain or discomfort; Assess whether someone who cannot verbally communicate is experiencing pain; Utilize the Alzheimer's Association's recommendations for pain management and staff approaches.
