This 2 credit course will help you understand how to communicate with impaired clients, individuals with Alzheimer's or memory loss, agitated people, and others in your work. Good communication skills make all the difference in your professionalism, quality of care, and comfort of the client and their family. After completing this lesson, the student will be able to: understand basic principles of communication; practice verbal and non-verbal communication skills; recognize touch as a way we communicate; employ the ALOHA approach to communication; respect confidentiality; communicate effectively with the team members, clients? families, and friends; communicate wants, needs and observations of the client to other team members in a timely, effective and thorough manner.
